general 3400 question

Post by quad4berettagtz »

I'm helping my uncle put a new engine in a '99 GA GT. We are looking for engines for it, and I noticed/remembered that there is a difference between the '99 3400 and the '00-'04 3400. I'm sure its just something dumb like different injectors, or a different UIM for the EGR...

Someone want to help clarify on this for me please? There are about 3x more options on the newer engines, and better prices, so if we can we want to go that route. We are doing LIMG while it is out and various other gaskets, so swaps from one engine to another would be real easy.

Thanks folks!! :D

2000+ are large port. so more horse power. might just need an adaptor for the egr. those are the only things i believe are different. overall, 2000+ are the better motor, and muuch easier to find low mileage

All 3400's are large port even 99 versions, but the best setup with all the revisions is 03+ and you just use the newer obdii egr and it plugs right in. Also reuse your injectors and such since they are the wide body type unless you plan on splicing the harness and tune for the 22's, 99's are 19lb
