engine cleaning tips

i need to clean the engine and dont want to screw anything up. what do i need to know?

Don't spray water on the alternater or module.I like a spray bottle with soap and water myself.

I use a pressurized air wand with cleaning solvent. After covering any choice electronics and painted/plastic bits. Take your time. Get it really clean, and then its easy to keep it clean.
