Engine Miss while driving?
Engine Miss while driving?
Ok, i had a thread about this problem however i thought it was my trans not wanting to shift, had it checked by 2 different trans shops, and trans is fine.. both told me that my engine sounds like it needs a tune up and if i did get it tuned up that the engine rpms wouldnt be so high while im driving.... on the highway i was doing 70 and they were at about 5500 now while doing the casual 40-50 there about 3000-4000... the trans doesnt slip or anything and is great on fluid... now i just recently got finished doing a complete full mechanical restoration however the only thing i didnt do was change my fuel injectors, which i honestly believe they are the original ones(has 274200 miles currently) now while driving it sounds like it putt putts and is starving for fuel... the cars been eating gas like crazy as well but i would believe that cause of the engine working super hard... so my question is that if these injectors are the problem would this be causing my problem?? I going to have them changed and a brand new compressor and ac charge done tommorow morning hopefully..Thanks for the help here guys much appreciated

Re: Engine Miss while driving?
Sounds like what mine was doing. It was a bad ignition coil pack. I'd check that. Just a thought. Lol

Re: Engine Miss while driving?
i changed all of the coil packs and the ignition control module as well as the plugs and wires... just didnt change the fuel injectors, im thinking 1 or possibly more is toast as it sounds like its sort of starving for fuel while driving

Re: Engine Miss while driving?
At 70 the engine should NOT be doing 5500 RPM, sorry but the trans people you spoke with don't know what they are talking about and a tune up will not drop your RPMS.
Not saying the engine may not also be running bad, but the high rpms at 70 does not go with a poorly running engine. Also if it was running that bad you wouldn't reach 70.

Re: Engine Miss while driving?
do you think a new control solenoid may fix the high rpm problem???
Re: Engine Miss while driving?
yea i mean it still has pep, i hit almost 90 without a problem yesterday on the highway, and when i did a compression test 5 out of 6 were great and the only one that was a little low was about 130ish and the others were in the mid 140's to 150's but thats not bad seeing its the original engine with almost 275k miles.... i just want this problem fixed
