Engine surgers not sure why

Post by someguysteve311 »

i have a 94 beretta with the 2.2L the engine surgers at idle and when holding the gas steady. but first starting the car for about 10 to 20 secs it runs smooth then starts to surge and if you turn it off and back on same thing hot or cold. i have change the fuel pump the filter, plugs, wires checked for vaxuum leaks. i dont get a check engine light could it be coil packs or i was thinking the ECM could be going any ideas thanks

I think you check it by resistance.  By dont quote me on that.  I think if you put your voltmeter/omh meter and move your throttle level back and forth it shoud increase and decrease slowly.  Note I think this is how you do it.  Also you know there is another site that is looked at more than this one. www.bstuff.com

Man, I have done so many posts on this. Check the post "1994 Base Beretta Problems". There is a great link in that.  I'd bet the coils and ECM are ok. The only thing about that site I don't like is about the plugs, you have to use anti-seize on aluminum heads, who can get the right TQ on them anyway(I never could so that didn't come up). I know you have a 4. Just thought I put that out there. Good luck.
