Old BerettaNet List posts re: ADS chips:
QUOTEI just got a new ADS "strip" chip (not street legal) for my 91 GT, but I have run into a few problems. ADS claims that it "delays" converter lockup, well, so far in road tests, it does not lock up at all anymore. I had it up to a steady 75mph cruise and still no lock-up. Any ideas on how this can be corrected? (without pulling the chip obviously) Also, I have a 180* thermostat in my car, ADS says that a 160 or 180 should be used for best performance. the temp gauge never gets over 1/4, and didn't during the "test run" either, but the radiator fan was on constantly. I cant see that a 180* thermo would cause it to run hot enough for the fan to be on constantly. Especially since the inital run was on a cool 40* night. Other than these few minor setbacks, the car seemed to perform pretty well. Again, not much difference down low, but top end was noticeably stronger. There still needs to be some tweaking done, especially to correct these few problems I'm having, but I think it was a good buy, especially since I got it off of Ebay brand new never opened for way under new price. Let me know if anyone has any solutions to these problems. Thanks!

Although I think chips are a ripoff, I have to say that the only bad things I have ever heard about chips were ADS superchips.  A local speed shop sold then for about a year. The guy told me that he had so many problems with customers cars after adding the chip that he got rid of them because it wasn't worth it.  He kept his Hypertech chips.

And one from the net:
QUOTEThe company that went out of business was called "ADS", and they deliberately for years played on the name "Superchip", and in fact there were at one point lawyers involved in that mess.  ADS was a very minor player who had generally not-so-hot products, and consequently they folded their doors. We hate to see anyone lose their job of course.  I'm hoping the day will come when people are no longer confused by their ploy of calling their product a "Super Chip".

Gert over in Europe said he got an ADS Superchip for his '88 2.0 and received a very noticeable gain.  He gave the URL for the company as www.superchips.com so he may have had a Superchips chip (ADS's website was www.adssuperchip.com).  AFAIK, ADS went out of business in March of 2000.  Regardless, I hope yours kicks butt
