Mine does that too, and my last 1/4 tank is more like a gallon or two, lol! Just deal with it...

I know you are thinking that it is a float problem. That is just a normal thing with GM cars. It does go past the "E" right? Just checking.

ya that is no issue... just an older car for ya...

the main thing if you were used to driving other cars is that the gauge is backwards compared to many cars... i had a friend that had a beretta many years back, and quickly glancing at the fuel gauge left him out of gas at least once... some reason he figured it was full, when it read empty... he was new though.

Yeah, most GM's do that, my GMC's gauge would go up and down alot when hitting bumps or being on even a slight hill.

My Beretta's digital gauges don't it though.

Both my beretta's do that, the base goes almost past the pump logo. The Z is about the same. But the Z is empty when its even on the red line. It will not go past it and still run. lol

Before I changed the tank in the Z it would not slosh too bad and affect the gauge, but now I take a corner and it goes to empty if I have less than the half mark.

BTW.

Our tanks are roughly half full at around 3/4. At half a tank, you really have around 3/8ths left. Thanks to the uneven tank height, its not uniform.

My digital gauge is so far off its not even funny. Once it comes off of being 'full', its around half...and i need to start looking for a gas station at the 1/4 mark. My true gas gauge is my trip meter.

Mine does this too! Next time I pull the cluster I'm going to pop off the needle and reapply it just a tad "emptier" so it reads a bit better. My tank is empty when the needle hits the top of the "E" marker. In other words, a little too early. But keep in mind that I have also removed all of my needles in the past when I converted to the Euro cluster, so I may have made it even worse a little bit.

oh it's as simple as that? good to know. i was curious if that was a spline/gear like, or a 'd' shape, something like the HVAC knobs (or other)

both my 88 and 96 both go past full when filled up, my 88 however works great until it hits E and it also jumps to full but soon as you put some gas back in it goes back normal, just when its just about out the gauge jumps to full

Yeah my '91 Grand Prix did that and my GTZ does it too. The closer it gets to Empty, the more the needle bounces up and down lol

I love it when I fill it up at the gas station and then there is more fuel than just full tank in it afterwards :D :burn:

Hell i got pissed at mine one day. I filled the car up as far as i could, then removed the needle and reset it directly on the Full mark. Now, my needle is almost perfect. Empty for me is when the needle is just below the red. I love it now, i actually know what i have :D Of course i use the trip odo too, but its nice not looking at a gas gauge thats way out in left field. My wifes 95 GAGT, her needle is literally a 1/3 tank past the full mark when filled.
