Not related to Beretta's or Chevy, but still GM
Okay, anyone have an idea of what a NOS Triple show chrome plated front bumper still in its wrapper never bolted on a car for a 1970 Pontiac LeMans Sport would fetch? If it was worth enough I may just sell it and buy a driver quality one for the car and use the rest of the money to make her nicer. I can't find anything at all and don't really feel like joining a Pontiac forum.
It was bought brand new in 1970 (or 69, because of how model years work) and sent to a professional shop and was triple show chrome plated and re-wrapped up and has been like that since, never ever bolted to a car. I peaked in at it and it still looks like new (still wrapped in it packaging).
Like I said, I can't find a single 1970 LeMans front bumper for sale, let alone a NOS triple show chrome plated one. And as I said before its not a repop. Closest thing I found was a nos rear bumper for around $1700-1800.

That's one of those things that could be worth a ton but only if you find someone that is willing to shell out the cash for a mint triple plated oem bumper.

Ebay. Craigslist. One way to start anyway.

You mean search Ebay or Craigslist? Already did that, did not find a single front bumper for a 70 (found 71 and 72's but they're alot more common and much different than a 70)

Im glad my '70 tempest has a good front bumper. i was lucky thought when i find a local guy selling the front valence pieces for mine. The only body piece i need now is a trunk lid which is becoming impossible without paying more than what i paid for the whole car.

How far from Selinsgrove are you? I see your in PA.
There is a 4 door 70 LeMans not too far from where I live just sitting in a backyard. If I sell the front bumper I'll probably buy/try to buy the bumper off that one and put it on mine (long story, mines actaully a 71 Enduro nosed car, but the front clip was sold off of it before I got it and they put a 70 LeMans front clip on it), I could pick the trunk lid up when/if I sell the bumper, and pick it up for you and just have you pay me before/after. How much did you pay for your Tempest? Nice to see there's another A-body Pontiac owner on here
Also, off topic. But did you drive your tempest yet? I've always been curious if the 6 cylinder's are slow in them.

No I meant do a list on there, see if you get any interest. There could be people looking for one.GTU89 wrote:You mean search Ebay or Craigslist? Already did that, did not find a single front bumper for a 70 (found 71 and 72's but they're alot more common and much different than a 70)

Oh okay, misunderstood you lol
Any idea on what price to set? Or just list it without a price and see what people offer?

Not idea. I have no clue what the market is like for that stuff. I'd say list it with a price you would like to see out of it. Anyone with serious interest would say something.

In addition, look for Tempest Forums...you may find the best info there.

You may have devalued your hard to find part with aftermarket chrome. If it were original in GM wrapper and finish you could see more than $1200. GTO front pieces get big money right now, but this is a standard Tempest part.
The way it sits your probably looking at $500-$600
But then again it is whatever someone will pay.

Re: Not related to Beretta's or Chevy, but still GM
I am almost 2 hours from there. I am not too far from Allentown. I paid $400 for it. I bought it the day it was going to be scrapped. My neighbor was scrapping a bunch of old cars and I just had to rescue one. She isn't pretty, but she is all there and runs and drives. I did a tune up on her but the carb needs to be rebuilt and tuned. The 250 only has like 155hp or something like that but with some money and work they can be some fun. Honestly right now she is slow just cause she needs carb work and to be driven on the road and some other engine work. I love this car but she needs a lot of TLC. I would really like to get a trunk lid, so if its worth it, maybe we can work something out if you get to that car. I started restoring it a couple years ago, but still have a long way to go. I honestly love the straight six in it though. Everyone keeps telling me to put a 400 or 455 in it but I am sticking with this one
I wish it was manual but I can live with it being auto for now
Here she is...I know, I know...she needs work

figure out what your comfortable doing with it and how much $$ you can afford.
400/455 swaps could get expensive when you start throwing A body parts to get it in there.
Is it a factory a/c car at least?
If it were me, i would turn it into a pro touring car...use a newer GM drive line to save money.

@ErichZ26 I didn't have it show chromed, It was shipped off and show chromed back in 70' by the person I got it off of, It's literally new looking. 70 LeMans bumpers are MUCH harder to find then GTO parts though, probably because everyone clones them and because 70 bumpers are a one-off year deal.
@BerettaGTZChick Don't look too bad, mine was pulled from a forest November 2010 and looked simular to yours, except it had ALOT of algae on it. Now it's flat black awaiting a professional paint job (Orbit yellow or Black) and maybe the correct 71 GTO front clip. Keep it straight six though like you said, its different and kinda neat. I can't wait to drive mine though (needs a water pump bolt and some hoses and whatnot) over 500ft pounds of torque!

I found about 30 front 1970 tempest bumpers of them searching on the computer. 1 used GTO(which was not very good) and there is an new aftermarket available. There are places out there that rebuild and re-chrome 1970 bumpers like NuChrome.
People buy NOS will normally will not want a triple chrome bumper, they want it in original condition from GM.
There are people who would LOVE a triple chrome shiny bumper.
If I were building that car i would do a Pro Touring "GTO" and use this nose. I have bought vintage parts from this guy just outside Chicago. Here is his ebay listing.
