new to berettas, please help!
buying a old 94 beretta z26. previous owner said it has a loose lifter (?) and the heating coil is out. how hard is it to tighten one of those and replace a heating coil? it has a 3100 sfi v6 in it. also about how much would it cost me for the parts? i live in okc, oklahoma btw.

Loose lifter, not really a problem unless its actually collapsed. And they are a pain in the ass to get to.
Heating coil? No such thing, but there are ignition or spark coil packs or the heater core. Either can be replaced fairly easy. Heater core is about 20-30 bucks, and some work to replace it, plus coolant, etc. More than likely that is what they are talking about.

So it's a fairly easy fix for someone who knows what they are doing?
Re: new to berettas, please help!
Its not terribly hard, but yeah, having some skills working on cars makes it easier.

They might also be confusing the typical piston slap sound with a "loose lifter" if it's a ticking noise that goes away when warm it could just be the sound of the pistons. They are noisy till they heat up and expand some.
We have a heater core replacement write up on here. As far as the lifter goes, if that needs to be changed then it's not the end of the world since you will also be replacing the lower intake gaskets which have a tendency to start leaking coolant into the oil which can destroy the engine.
