Re: 95 Beretta 6cyl- intermit rough idle/run/stall

ok.. the problem never really went away.. like i said, it's been intermittent.. here's the latest... i rarely ever drive it anymore for fear of stalling, that's why i haven't been on for a while... anyway, i did the tune up, couldn't chase the threads cause the socket for the tool was too big to fit...

Re: 95 Beretta 6cyl- intermit rough idle/run/stall

Actually, that's pretty much what i did when it wasn't going in easily the first time.. you guys had mentioned the importance of angle earlier, so i was looking at the plugs next to it, and compared to the ones in front.. thank you :) it occurs to me too that the old plug that came out of that cylin...

Re: 95 Beretta 6cyl- intermit rough idle/run/stall

Thanks.. I found a cheap chaser at the part store, don't have any saw to cut the threads on the old plugs anyway, wasn't sure what else to use (for future reference, or for anyone else reading, what else could be used to cut those old threads?) I've attached a pic.. please confirm i got the correct ...

Re: 95 Beretta 6cyl- intermit rough idle/run/stall

Well then you need to fix that. Your electrode is not exposed to the combustion chamber so your getting marginal ignition in that cylinder if any. I didn't realize that.. And putting it that way, it definitely sounds like it could be the cause of the intermit. rough idle/run, so thank you.... again...

Re: 95 Beretta 6cyl- intermit rough idle/run/stall

thank you... so ok.. thats gotta be a sign of too much stress or tryin too hard.. i had it drawn out right on paper in case the numbers fell off the wires.. so even with numbers on the wires (ok, a couple did fall off while working) AND the sketch of numbered coils and cylinders, i still managed to ...

Re: 95 Beretta 6cyl- intermit rough idle/run/stall

Re: 95 Beretta 6cyl- intermit rough idle/run/stall

with that plug, i tried reseating it several times... put it in til it was snug, took it out, tried again, and again and again... kept getting the same results.. even turned it in reverse first cause sometimes twisting something off first when putting it on will help seat the threads right.. but sti...

Re: 95 Beretta 6cyl- intermit rough idle/run/stall

ok.. here's how it went today... not done yet.. got off the coils, icm, and plate underneath to get the back plugs.. 2 came out ok, and back in ok.. [*][/color] 3rd was a little snug the whole time coming out, but when i went to put in new plug, it wouldn't thread right.. only got about 2 turns, giv...

Re: 95 Beretta 6cyl- intermit rough idle/run/stall

it's the plugs in the back when i get to those that are gonna really kill me... first things first... but the buy out might explain why the last time i looked at a chilton in recent times, it was much less helpful, and looked like the same exact info as haynes... bummer... the way they used to do it...

Re: 95 Beretta 6cyl- intermit rough idle/run/stall

not yet with the tape and numbers.. i just tried the socket to see if it would catch, haven't removed yet... funny you mentioned.. first time ever i tried a tune up was on an old escort (i hate ford btw).. anyway, took everything off at once, no markings.. replaced the distrib cap and rotor, plugs, ...
