Left turn signal

Post by themixer »

My left turn signal appears to not be working, checked the bulb seems fine socket also seems fine, haven't had a chance yet check with a multimeter. Any common problems I should be looking for?

I'd say it's the flasher. You checked the bulb? There are three, the front, rear and side signal marker. Most of the time the front and rear will make it flash very fast. Not sure what a dead side marker would do.
It's the yellow one in the front, not the red one in the rear.

found new information on the car

it says if all hazard lights and some turn signal lights are not working to replace the hazard switch.

after looking at the wiring diagram I am tending to agree with the troubleshooting tips

my factory service manual to refer to a page that doesn't exist in the book i have, not sure if the page is missing but if someone can post instructions please let me know!

section 3B4 is what its referring to in the manual

so after a couple hours on Saturday of reading the wiring diagram I came up with this bypass.

The hazard switch is defiantly the problem, and with this car getting a 1990 black wheel this should get me by for the meantime

the yellow wire controls the front blinker and the light blue controls the back so i just jumped them both together, now the blinker works fine hazards work fine but when applying the brakes the left turn signal lights up on the dash.

regardless the car will now pass inspection !

I am really growing tired of these one off problems i keep having.

You are. But we are still listening! I've only had a problem with the ignition-switch in my '89 (and two of my three '90s...), nothing else has been a problem, except for the horn in the '89 blowing the fuse, but that was caused by an improperly installed alarm system, I think. That bypass setup is pretty cool though...

I honestly had no idea that the hazard switch was responsible for so much in these cars
