shifter cables
I saw on another post the link for
https://dmauto.com/web/dmauto/Catalog/N ... K/6202182/
Are these cables any better than the "custom" cables I can get at my local parts store? I have a 1991 3.1 5 speed that i really want to fix up

Re: shifter cables
I don't know how good they are. It took me forever to find those for another member. They are very rare and hard to get, so your kind of taking a chance when your buy any of them. I have an auto, so I can't say what would be the best.
Also check out Booger Bushings. I hear that those poly bushings can take out some of the stress and help the cables last longer. Again take that with some salt, auto trans guy here.

Re: shifter cables
well the cables are $32 CAD at my local auto store and they are guaranteed for a year I will have to try them out. If they work to roast off a few sets of tires I will be able to go back to the 2.2 base without issues
I haven't even got to the bushings I might be able to make something that works for that. This is going to be repaired on the EL cheapo side

Ok, just thought I'd put the info out there. Tell me how it goes. I wish that 2.2 was a V6, but it's still a nice car! Wish mine was that color.

Re: shifter cables
also nothing sounds like a 3.1 a real 3.1 not a 3100
Re: shifter cables
That looks like the right cable for the older 5-speeds. It should work for yours if the shifter pin is the right size.

Yeah, I had one in my 90GT. I had a Flowmaster and a high flow cat on mine and it sounded great. I always wanted to know how it would have sounded with headers. Well, now I have a 3100 and a Magnaflow, it just doesn't sound very good.themixer wrote:also nothing sounds like a 3.1 a real 3.1 not a 3100
