I have had those wheels, 4.5" wheels, and even the 16" wheels explode numerous times but have always kept the damage to chunks in the skin. I have never had a wheel grab me. That looks like a not so great thing there. Glad you didn't get the vein.

Hey man I was just looking out for you on the sleeves. Until four days ago I didn't even know that they were out there. From what happened to you it sounds like I was taking a big chance when I was working on my Camaro. I had a few wheels blow up, but nothing more than that.
I have never had a fear of cut off wheels, l do now.
I got lucky a few times with braided wire wheels(on an angle grinder) because I was wearing a jacket.

As I said though, it wasn't simply from the wheel exploding... it was the fact that it broke and jammed in the part I was cutting so it kicked the tool completely out of my hands. None of my injury are from shrapnel, unless you consider the flying tool itself shrapnel lol

You didn't read Wicked's post or mine. Come on man, if we didn't care we wouldn't post. How about a jig saw or sawsall next time? I would think they would be better for that kind of job. :)

There was no room for the sawsall that's why I was using the cutting wheel... I try to stick to the sawsall if I can but if there is no space to get the blade out the other side then your screwed.
