If you want to get technical, I think it was the Redline Hood Shocks.

Well this is what they emailed me back

Yes, I would need 10 buyers pre-paid, simple air ducts should be feasible.

Production time is about 2-3 months.

Shipping is $159.99 for most hoods.

Not to mention having it fitted, mounted, painted, etc. You could wind up with a grand in that hood, once its all said and done.

Might have a couple people that have the desire, funds, and willingness, but not 10.
I agree with your last statement, but I disagree with your first one... Sorry but I don't take those car "values" into consideration when buying aftermarket parts for my car... If I did then I would have said why spend 4 times what my car is "worth" to get it painted...

With the way you've replied to this thread twice it sounds like your looking at this hood as just a factory replacment, or he's trying to get people who just "need" a hood to get in on the GB... If someone wants a carbon fiber hood they realize for one its carbon fiber so its not cheap, and two its a hood so unless your going to pick it up $159 shipped isn't that bad.

And in comparison a US body hood is $549 plus whatever they charge for shipping.

Well, maybe it looks that way, and yeah, I do see the need for a factory replacements, as the stock hoods are getting harder to find not already beat or rusted.

I just can't justify the price tag unless I'm building a racing or highly modded car, and have the money to burn for it. Its true that eventually I have a build in mind to do, but that's a way off yet. And I doubt I will want a CF hood to build it with anyway. I can think of many other things to blow 800 bucks on. lol

In relation to Group Buys, I did get that one for the Billet Upper Tranny Mounts off the ground and completed a few years ago.

I don't remember how many people it took to get the initial run off the ground, thinking like 20 @ $100 each.

Thats who this group buy is directed at, NOT those looking for a stock replacemet hood... Thats why I don't understand your replies.

As DOHC says, if you don't want it or agree ok, but no need to clutter the thread with negativity you feel toward the price or the purpose.

US Body already has molds for stock and cowl hoods. Why not just have them make it in CF? It's the same process as their fiberglass hoods. No group buy needed since the tooling is already done.

I'd be curious to see what US-Body has to say about that one... Also comparison in weight/price from their fiberglass version.
