Repair kit for GM Getrag FWD shifter cables

Post by weba »

I noticed these on Rodney Dickmans store

http://rodneydickman.com/catalog/produc ... cts_id=315

Also there is a text:
NOTE: I am looking at having FWD Getrag shift and select cables made if there is enough interest. The aftermarket cables available today have proven to be very low quality. Email me and let me know if you are interested in a set.

Nice find weba I don't need them but it's nice to know they are out there for just in case, I'd like to get 2 sets of cables made to have as spares hopefully he generates enough interest to make em happen cause as he states the aftermarkets are of low quality, which is probably why I see alot of people wanting oem used ones and even to find NOS ones that would be a find there

Here was an old picture I took of mine, the bolt that connects this to the tranny of the isuzu i think is what this kit is replacing

92-94 Getrags have this style end on the cables too... ;) This kit replaces the bolt and the bushing for the getrags, not sure if the same bolt would work on the Isuzu ones or not.

I think Ive found a solution for my 1990 Quad 4 Beretta.

Hard to explain this without the pics I have.....not much time to dig them up but.....

I always had the issue of the cables separating on me. Meaning the metal wires that go around the big metal cable in the middle gets disconnected. Ive posted pics here somewhere.

Well after 3 or 4 trips to autozone returing the cables and getting new ones....i was fed up. So I had a new set and simply taped them down with (not sure what its called) rubber electrical tape. Not the normal black electrical tape we all use as ducktape for our cars...LOL but its a strecthy black rubber tape that after applied it molds in and becomes a solid rubber piece.

Well so far (hope I dont jinks it) but I have yet to have any cable issues. Shifts great too!

When I find time I will post a how to with better descriptions and pics. :)
