Im not sure about that but my experience with paints/dyes is that they do not work on interior or plastics, they just brush of

if you watch the vid and look at the plastics, it looks like crap. you can see blotches all over it.

It's spray painted plastic and vinyl... Will eventually flake of after enough flexing. And I can only imagine it makes carpet feel rough after spraying.
You need real DYE something that gets rubbed on and stains the product... not sprayed on something that just sticks, hopefully...

Re: Colorbond anyone tried it?
I used the duplicolor vinyl dye ages ago and it was sold under the same basic principal... My door panels were done but under the door pocket where your foot may hit when getting in, the dye actually rubbed off... so if you ask me so much for soaking into the vinyl.

Re: Colorbond anyone tried it?
Abs and polypropylene plastics is a pain in the ass to do and usually doesn't last. I did a whole vinyl dash, upper vinyl door panels and vinyl arm rests on my 79 Monte carlo. The upper panels and arm rests didn't wear off and the dash either. I used (sem products) SEM. I've had luck with it on vinyls
Re: Colorbond anyone tried it?
im trying to change the color of my quarter armrests on the back of the car as well as the door panels and found that colorbond thing. that's why i asked since its a leatherish material, painting it wouldn't last much...

Just make sure you clean the hell out of it. I used a soap sem had too. Maybe grab a vinyl/leather piece from a junkyard and try it out.

Re: Colorbond anyone tried it?
I used.duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint. Holds up pretty nicely I think. It hasn't scuffed on me as of yet, and mine was painted just before bfest 2012, I haven't had to touch up yet. My interior was factory blue, and I painted it black. My carpeting is not stiff either. Took me about 7 cans to do everything, carpeting, headliner, dash, console, door panels, pillars etc... I did not do the seats as I just put seat covers on anyway. I am happy with the outcome

Re: Colorbond anyone tried it?
I used dye on some of the interior plastics and to repair some door panels had excellent success with the product and after a couple weeks to try is very hard to remove. Its all about prep and cleaning first, i used 99% rubbing alcohol dish soap lots of water and dried very carefully before applying very very thin coats. Most of the parts I started with for a test were red but will be installed into my 89GT when doing the GTZ interior swap, as they turned out quite nice.

Re: Colorbond anyone tried it?
I did the maroon to black change back in 2005 with my car. The DupliColor stuff didnt hold up very well. I've used SEM on another car and it was better, but this is only for the vinyl and plastic. It does not work on fabric, period. Even strong dye made specifically for fabric does not work on synthetic fibers. I wanted to dye a set of Z seats and contacted a specialist who had me do a test. If a fabric lights on fiber and burns it will take dye...if it melts it is synthetic and will not take dye.

Re: Colorbond anyone tried it?
In this pic you can see how the fabric still looks kinda red. And it made it scratchy.

So then I recarpeted the kick panels and door trim and it was much better. The floor carpet was also changed already when I first did the swap. You can see how it looks like a true black against the console in the first pic.
