I remember my 89 cav.. It had the 2.0. Looked just like that, if memory serves.... And it ran good, even if it was a dog with a boat anchor. (mated to an auto on a 4 door, it sucked)

Yeah, the 2.0 OHC was a real dog. I'll attest to that as well. Great motor, aside from popping headgaskets as bad as the 2.2 and 2.3 are known for (funny though , only the Quad got the infamous rap for headgaskets but all three motors were known for it). As to the injector issue I've seen a few people having trouble with them on them 2.2L. I haven't personally dealt with it. I'm trying to remember his name, I think it's Dustin? On here , he just mated a 5 speed to his 2.2L and it's marron with nice wheels, lowered. He had some major issues as I recall with his fuel injection. Maybe check with him? I just remembered it was an ongoing thing. Maybe not REAL common, but something I've heard of more than a few times.

Sounds like what happened with this one, is that maybe the headgasket went, it overheated and that was it. According to the owner, the word seized was used, but no way for me to know that yet. Obviously I will be checking the oil, etc. Now once I get it home hopefully by Thursday, give it a bath and throw a batt in it, and see what I have, I will go from there. May try to crank it over, see if its thunking or something. I would crap my pants if it fired up. Worst case with the engine, I go find another one. This is literally going to be a major fail or a minor one. Either way I probably can get back what I'm putting into it at the moment or more if I can't make it road worthy.

:D

Otherwise, I will join the multiple beretta RUNNING owner club. Yeah the one where people own more than one beretta at the same time that are drivable, licensed and actually driven.. LMAO

You can tell if it is locked up. Put a proper size socket and wrench on the crank pulley bolt and turn it clockwise ( the engine's direction of rotation ) and if it refuses to budge it's more than likely seized up. If it moves try to get two full rotations which should cover the engines full combustion cycle. If it turns part way then sticks, odds are there is a valve bent and open and one of the pistons is hitting it.

But if they got it as hot as it sounds, they likely seized the crankshaft bearings. At that point, I'd just scrap that motor and buy Chad's or a salvage yard motor.

Not like bearings can't be replaced, crankshafts redone and that... lol

Your point is valid Chris, but i have very rarely seen where someone cooked a crank and was able to save it. 99% of the time, its messes up the crank journals and rod journals and cuts them up pretty badly. If the motor is seized, i 1000% guarantee you, Chads motor with be the cheapest/best option for you.

Oh I know. Don't worry, rebuild only if feasible, replacement is the second option, providing the rest of the can be road worthy.

Stopped at a local yard, that really never has much. Actually found 3... 2.2 engines. Only 1 of which is probably any good, its in a sunfire, but it has an ignition problem, most likely the coil pack. There was a early 90 something cav with a 2.2 out of a corsica... Wanted it, but it has a cracked block, so no point. lol

The other was another sunfire that was all beat to hell. Engine was dead in it too though.

i own 2 GTZ'S, there are both legal and licensed, and both get driven, both white 91's, the quad needs an exhaust and i havnt found a decent shop to do it the way i want it, and the v6 gtz needs a tune up and power steering line. and the girlfriend has a red 91 quad gtz in mint condition... wich im currently driving... lol. so i think my family of 3 gtz's has you beat! :P

Forget the Adriatic blue. Its a majorly beat POS. In some ways it needs as much work as the one I have being parted out, and the guy wanted 750 for it. Clutch hydraulic is toast (bad line or something) big ass rust hole in the pass side above the rear fender, duct taped sunroof, fucked up back seat, all pulled out like the red base was.... Filthy, needs lots of things replaced, ass end can wobble back and forth pretty bad (side to side). Weird strips put on the decklid edges, just... Messed up! It did seem to run ok, but... Nice enough guy, but wow.

I think I know where I will be getting another one though. Have to talk to the guy first. lol
