Ok here is how the whole setup goes.
You need Monroe upper strut mounts Part# 904912 This is the upper mount, steel spacer, plastic angled spacer and bearing. I also bought the upper spring insulators Part# 903970. Do not use KYB boots, the original ones I had the bump stop was so large my car bottomed out on them with Eibach springs. I’m still unsure if they sent me the wront part though. I used Monroe boots and bumpstops. On my 96 I’m using the factory ones because they are the best.
Pic of part number.
The assy goes as follows,
Flat side on the spring insulator goes outboard facing the tire, bearing goes in that with white portion facing up, then steel spacer, and then the upper mount with the plastic spacer thick side closer to the motor, aka Inboard.
Reference pic to see the stack of parts.
Pics of other assy to help.
Cant forget the most important tool of all….
Flat side of spring insulator is parallel to the flat spot on the strut, its on the spindle side of the assy.
Other Random Pics of the upper mount.
Orientation in comparison to the spring from top
Famous side pic showing where spring coil ends in relation to the angled spacer, It will look the same for both sides, the thicker side of the spacer being on the side away from the “last coil”
Who needs a spring compressor?!
All done..
